SALLY HAMPSON

Artist & Weaver

Sally Hampson is leading an exciting and eclectic life with textiles, from setting up a design studio in Paris, working with interior designers and architects in London, to collaborations on theatre projects for sets and costume in Cairo.

She has shared her creative life as a visiting lecturer at Central St Martins, Goldsmiths College of Art and the Royal College of Art, where she herself graduated with an MA in weaving, is currently running weaving workshops at The Weaving Shed in Stroud.

Her experience has taken her to work on projects with Bedouin women in Egypt, artisans in Ethiopia and makers in Kenya.

Her collections of limited edition woven blankets take you into the heart of the British landscape.

She transforms her journeys to the wild landscape of The Outer Hebrides and The Shetland Isles into unique woven textile pieces. In collaboration with bespoke mills in Shetland and Yorkshire, using wool from indigenous sheep, creating woven pieces that represent the land, materials and making of the British Isles.
